Nikiti Sithonia Halkidiki

Planning your 2026 summer holiday in Nikiti? You’ve made the perfect choice. As the gateway to the Sithonia peninsula, Nikiti offers the perfect blend of modern convenience and traditional charm.

But with over 100 beaches and dozens of hidden tavernas, where do you start? We’ve lived here for years, and this is exactly how we recommend you spend 7 days in paradise.

Day 1: Arrival & The Magic of the Old Village

Old Village Nikiti Palia Nikiti

Welcome to Nikiti! After checking into your accommodation, take it slow.

• Morning: Stretch your legs on the Nikiti Promenade. Enjoy a cold Freddo Espresso while looking out at the turquoise Toroneos Gulf.

• Afternoon: Relax at the main Nikiti Beach. The water is shallow and perfect for a first dip.

• Evening: Head uphill to Palia Nikiti (Old Nikiti). Walk the cobblestone streets and enjoy a traditional dinner under the giant plane tree at Platanos or Taverna Giannelis.

• Local Tip: The sunset from the church of Agios Nikitas in the old village is the best photo spot in town.

Day 2: The "Big Three" Blue Flag Beaches

Nikiti Beach Sithonia

Sithonia is famous for its crystal-clear water. Today is about seeing the icons.

• Morning: Agios Ioannis Beach. Just 5 minutes from Nikiti, this beach is massive and stunning.

• Afternoon: Drive 5 minutes further to Kalogria Beach. It’s famous for the "rock" in the middle of the water—perfect for snorkeling!

• Logistics: You’ll need a car to explore properly. Check our 2026 Car Rental Guide here.

Day 3: The Secret Escape (Avoiding the Crowds)

Nikiti Beach Sithonia

If you’re visiting in July or August, the main beaches get busy. Today, we go "hidden."

• The Destination: Kastri Beach. Located between Nikiti and Agios Ioannis.

• The Secret: Don't stop at the first beach. Walk past the rocks to the Small Kastri Cove. It’s quieter and feels like a private island.

• Evening: Dinner at Boukadoura on Elia Beach—widely considered one of the best restaurants in all of Halkidiki.

Day 4: Be Your Own Captain (Diaporos Island)

Vourvourou view beach

This is usually the highlight of everyone's trip.

• Activity: Drive 15 minutes to Vourvourou and rent a small motorboat (no license required!).

• Mission: Navigate to the Blue Lagoon at Diaporos Island. The water here is so blue it looks like a swimming pool.

• Pro Tip: Pack a cooler with drinks and snacks, as there are no shops on the islands! Book your boat rental in advance here.

Day 5: Friday Market & Southern Sithonia

• Morning: It’s Market Day in Nikiti! Every Friday morning, the main street transforms. Buy local olives, fresh feta, and the world-famous Nikiti Honey (look for "Pine" or "Heather" varieties).

• Afternoon: Drive south to Porto Koufo, the deepest natural harbor in Greece. The cliffs surrounding the water are breathtaking.

• Dinner: Eat fresh fish right on the harbor at one of the local seafood tavernas.

Day 6: Adventure & The Mount Athos View

The Mount Athos View

• Morning: Take a drive to the east coast of the peninsula to Sarti. The view of Mount Athos across the sea is legendary.

• Afternoon: Explore the "Crab Holes" (Kavourotrypes). It’s a series of tiny white-sand coves carved into the rocks.

• Alternative: If you prefer a guided experience, book a Mount Athos Cruise from Ormos Panagias.

Day 7: Relax & Final Souvenirs

Sunset Nikiti Beach Sithonia

On your last day, don't rush.

• Morning: Revisit your favorite beach from the week, or try the calm waters of Koviou Beach.

• Afternoon: Do your souvenir shopping in the Nikiti harbor area. Pick up some local olive oil and handmade soaps.

• Evening: A final sunset cocktail at Arsanas on the promenade to toast to an unforgettable holiday.
